Name at birth: Virginia Davis Tall and athletic but inclined towards comedy, Geena Davis won an Oscar as best supporting actress for her 1998 film The Accidental Tourist. Davis had a short-lived career as a model before winning a role in 1982's Tootsie (as Dustin Hoffman's dressing room partner). Davis then appeared in the TV sitcom Buffalo Bill before hitting it big in Hollywood with several popular films, including The Fly (1986, with future husband Jeff Goldblum) and Beetlejuice (1988, directed by Tim Burton). Her buddy movie with Susan Sarandon, Thelma and Louise (1991, directed by Ridley Scott), was a box office smash that earned Davis another Oscar nomination. Her other film credits include A League of Their Own (1992, with Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell), The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996, with Samuel L. Jackson) and Stuart Little (1999) and its 2002 sequel Stuart Little 2. Davis has also starred in television series, including The Geena Davis Show (2000, with Mimi Rogers) and Commander-in-Chief (2005, with Donald Sutherland). She has been married four times: to Richard Emmolo (1981-83), actor Jeff Goldblum (1987-90), director Renny Harlin (1993-98) and surgeon Reza Jarrahy (2001- ). Davis and Jarrahy have a daughter, Alizeh, born in 2001, and twin sons, Kian and Kaiis, born in 2004... Davis is six feet tall... Some sources list her birth year as 1957... According to the Bravo show Inside the Actors Studio, "Davis worked as a model for the Victoria's Secret catalogue where she was spotted by [director] Sydney Pollack and cast in Tootsie"... Davis is a member of the high-IQ club Mensa, but told Sports Illustrated in 2002 that "I haven't ever gone to any Mensa meetings." |

Name at birth: Eleanor Gow Mixing a girl-next-door grin with an athletic Aussie body, Elle Macpherson first hit the cover of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue in 1986. The magazine made her reputation: she appeared on the issue's cover again in 1987 and 1988 and went on to became one of the most acclaimed models of the 1990s. Macpherson supplemented her modelling career with appearances in movies like Sirens (1994, with Hugh Grant) and Batman and Robin (1997, with George Clooney). She also started her own lingerie line, Elle Macpherson Intimates. She joined fellow models Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell as an original partner in the Fashion Cafe restaurant chain. Extra credit : Macpherson was married to photographer Gilles Bensimon from 1985-89. She had a long relationship with financier Arpad Busson, with whom she has two children: Arpad Flynn (b. 1998) and Aurelius Cy (b. 2003)... Yamila Diaz-Rahi has modelled extensively in her native Argentina and also in Europe. In 1999 her career got a further boost when she appeared in the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. In 2002 SI boosted her again, putting her on the cover of that year's swimsuit edition. She also has made several appearances in the Victoria's Secret lingerie catalog. Extra credit : Diaz-Rahi is also known as simply Yamila Diaz... Petra Nemcova succeeded Diaz-Rahi on the Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover for 2003. |

Born and raised in Holland, Frederique van der Wal started her modelling career in Europe, but soon moved to New York. After appearing on the covers of Cosmopolitan, Glamour and Vogue, the heavy-lidded Frederique began a close association with the lingerie merchant Victoria's Secret, making regular appearances in the company's catalogues throughout the 1990s. She also branched out into her own line of swimsuits, lingerie and fragrances. She played supporting roles in the movies Two Girls and a Guy (1997, with Robert Downey Jr.) and Wild Wild West (1999, with Will Smith). Extra credit : Frederique was the surprise 'mole' on the reality show Celebrity Mole in early 2003; here's a brief report. |
